Door de enorme voorraad Fuji Instax films (die ik voor een prikje op Marktplaats kocht) en mijn enorme ongeduld zijn mijn Polaroid camera en ik de beste match op analoge fotografie gebied. Eigenlijk zijn die minuten die ik moet wachten tot de film zich ontwikkeld heeft al te lang voor me, mede doordat mijn Instax nog altijd verrassingen (positief en negatief) voor me in petto heeft. De Fuji Instax heeft een eenvoudige lens waardoor goed licht cruciaal is en omdat objectief en zoeker een stukje uit elkaar liggen (parallax) is de uitsnede die ik door mijn zoeker zie niet de uitsnede op de daadwerkelijke foto. De vroege lente van dit jaar leverde echter de perfecte omstandigheden voor goede Polaroids: prachtig licht en lang bloeiende bloesem. Ik kan inmiddels een kaart uittekenen van alle Magnolia’s, Prunussen en andere bloesem bloeiende bomen in de regio. (En daarnaast word ik waarschijnlijk versleten voor dorpsgek door een aantal plaatsgenoten nu, maar ach.)

Over instant liefde gesproken, ik kocht het klokje ontworpen door Scholten en Baijings voor Ikea voor mezelf. Als Ikea beursgenoteerd was, zou hun aandeel enorm gestegen zijn dit eerste kwartaal, met al die heerlijkheden in hun collectie. Ik kan inmiddels geen Ikea meer zien en mijn Family Card ligt ergens in een la na te smeulen na al die koppen koffie voor een euro, dus voor mijn eigen gemoedsrust hoop ik dat Ikea het voorlopig weer even rustig aandoen met het ontwerpen van nieuwe producten.

Because of the stash of Fuji Instax films that I once bought on the internet for less than nothing and because I’m a very Impatient Person, me and my Polaroid Camera are a match made in analogue heaven. But even those few minutes I have to wait for the image to appear on the film are often too much of a wait for me. Not only because I’m impatient, also because the result on the picture still always surprises me (both in a postitive and negative way). The Fuji Instax’ lens is pretty plain, so it’s crucial to take pictures with (preferably) a huge amount of light. On top of that, the viewfinder is next to the lens (parallax error), so the subject my eye sees through the lens isn’t the exact excision that will appear on the film. 2014’s very early Spring delivered the perfect circumstances for (good) Polaroid photography though, not only because of last weeks bright blue skies, but also for its beautiful blossoming trees. (Not only I can now draw a map of all the blossoming trees in our neighbourhood, my neighbours will definitely think of me now as that crazy pregnant Polaroid lady…ah well.)

Speaking of instant love, I indulged myself with the cute little clock designed by Scholten and Baijings for the new Ikea PS collection. If Ikea was stock market listed, their price would have gone through the roof with all that devine Brakig and PS stuff they stocked their shops with over the last few months. I have seen so many Ikeas from the inside recently, that I can draw a map of those as well. For my own piece of mind, I hope they now take a small break from stocking new fabulous interior items. Before I really turn into that crazy pregnant lady.
