In a rut

 I love Autumn, but one way or another, when the seasons start to change, I always find myself in some kind of a rut. Don’t know if this sounds familiar to anyone, but it annoys me majorly and I can’t seem to do anything about it but wait until it passes. (If you have the golden-anti-Autumn-dip please share, I would be endlessly grateful!) I just don’t feel like doing anything and nothing really inspires or interests me.
Annoying? Big Time!
So, I was in a rut this morning like all the other mornings the past week. When I feel like this, like I have nothing particular to blog about, I often turn to my craftbooks and interior magazines for some colour or picture inspiration. One of my all time favourite craftbooks is ‘Japon aux point croix’ (read Petra’s craftbookreview here!) and I started shooting pics with my favourite 50mm lens of random objects that fitted the look and feel of the book.
Sometimes this works out and sometimes it doesn’t. Today, lucky for me, it worked out quite well.
And now I’m going to take a walk in the woods, hoping to find my groove back.

Ik hou van de herfst, maar op de één of andere manier ben ik altijd een beetje somber wanneer de seizoenen veranderen. Misschien dat meer van jullie er last van hebben, het irriteert mij in ieder geval mateloos omdat ik er niets anders aan kan doen dan wachten tot het overwaait. (Degene met de gouden anti-herfstdip-tip mag zich altijd melden…ik ben je eeuwig dankbaar!) Ik voel me inspiratieloos, futloos, fantasieloos en er is niks waar ik écht blij van word. Heel.Erg.Irritant.
Goed.
Ik en mijn humeur zaten dus deze ochtend op de bank, denkend waarover te bloggen en ieder idee dat opkwam af te doen als ‘stom’ of ‘niet interessant’. Op zulke momenten werkt het voor mij soms goed om een beetje in handwerkboeken en tijdschriften te bladeren voor kleur- of foto inspiratie. Eén van mijn lievelingsboeken ‘Japon aux Point Croix’ (lees de review van Petra hier!) bood uitkomst en ik maakte wat foto’s van objecten in de sfeer van het boek met mijn nooit teleurstellende 50mm lens.
Soms werkt deze methode en vandaag was dat het geval. Gelukkig!
 

En nu ga ik eens een flinke wandeling maken op deze mooie herfstdag, hopend dat ik mijn ‘groove’ weer terug vind. Fijne zondag!

Cheap and instant happiness

Something simple like a card can make me a very happy girl. I found the one with the Owl and the Pussycat at Paperchase, which still is my number 1 cardshop ever. (You gotta love it there: I’m always chuckling when I’m at that shop, their cards are so funny! Imagine yourself working at a shop where your clients are chuckling constantly, wouldn’t that be a blast? Or would it become annoying after weeks and weeks of listening to all kinds of irritating giggles?) The one with the cute camera comes from Hema. I was happily surprised by their new line of cards. See, cards are the most cheap, best instant happiness a girl can get!

Zoiets simpels als een kaart maakt mij altijd Erg Blij. Ik vond de kaart met de uil en de poes bij Paperchase, nog steeds mijn meest favoriete kaartenwinkel. Ik sta daar altijd heel mutsig te giechelen om al die grappige kaarten die ze hebben. Moet je je voorstellen dat je daar achter de kassa staat en de hele dag allerlei ginnegappende mensen in je winkel hebt, zou je dat zat worden na een tijdje? Daar denk ik dan weer aan. De kaart met de super lieve camera vond ik bij Hema. Ik werd weer blij verrast door hun nieuwe kaartencollectie. Zie, kaarten zijn de goedkoopste, beste opvrolijkers die een mens zich wensen kan!

Count your blessings

A lot of things made me happy, the last couple of weeks. ‘Big’ things like being at the Woonbeurs for three days and launching my own magazine. But also small things like finding bright purple candles at Hema for one euro (yes, things like that make me very, very happy..is that silly?), a night out with blogfriends or being home with my Love, doing nothing in particular.

Een heleboel dingen maakten mij blij de afgelopen weken. Grote zaken als mijn drie-dagen-durende Woonbeurs avontuur en de launch van mijn eigen magazine, tot kleine dingen, zoals de paarse kaarsen die ik vond bij Hema voor een euro (zulke dingen kunnen me zó blij maken, is dat erg dwaas?). Een hele gezellige avond met blogvriendinnen of thuis zijn met mijn Lief, een beetje scharrelen zonder een echt doel.

Anki begon Count your Blessings en gaf het initiatief een eigen pagina op haar blog. Kijk daar voor alle deelnemers.

Alpine Kitsch

I’m very into Alpine Kitsch at the moment (it’s the theme of the next issue of Oh Marie!) so I had to have the Masking Tape with the puzzle pattern. (It’s colours are very Alpine Kitsch-y in my opinion.) Along with my order, sweet Martine sent me the cute kitsch print to get into the Alpine Kitsch spirit and to wish me luck with the making of the next issue. These kind of sweet gestures make Martine my favourite webshopowner. Ever, big time.

Ik ben helemaal in de Alpine Kitsch sfeer momenteel (het is het nieuwe thema van de volgende Oh Marie!) en de tape met het puzzelpatroon past qua kleurenpalet helemaal bij dat thema. Bij mijn bestelling stuurde lieve Martine dit lieve kitschy prentje, om alvast in de sfeer te komen en om me succes te wensen bij de maak van het nieuwe nummer. Dit soort lieve gebaren maken Martine mijn favoriete webshopeigenaar, op eenzame hoogte, met stip op één!

Balance

My quiet workdays are back and so is the feeling of balance and creative flow. I really love my job but man, I really needed this!

Mijn stille werkdagen zijn weer terug en daarmee een gevoel van balans, ritme en nieuwe ideeën. Ik hou enorm van mijn werk, maar na alle hectiek van de afgelopen weken is het heerlijk om weer in de ‘normaalstand’ terug te keren!
