I just got back from Russia

We’ve just returned from a trip to Saint Petersburg, Russia, so I’m gonna annoy you with loads of bizarre stories and futile details the next couple of days. I don’t want to offend anyone, but Russia is a strange country. On the other hand, Russians might take that as a compliment.

First challenge is to get into the country. To make things super-duper exciting for example, our visa arrived the day before we left. First one down, ten to go.

We thought it would be a good idea to take a cab from the airport to our hotel. Not. Good. I think our cabdriver was weary of life, for it felt like we were taking part in a carchase from the movie Ronin. The man drove through the streets of Saint Petersburg with about 74 miles p/h, passing cars left and right, dodging pedestrians and honking to everything and anyone that was in his way. We passed about 10 policemen on our trip and not one of them blinked by the sight of someone pretending he was a starplayer from Need for Speed. O My. He even gave us his businesscard (while driving like a mad man) in case we would need a cab during our stay. Gee, thanks…for nothing!

When we finally made it to our hotel, I kinda looked like the baby on the picture. Gloomy.
And this was just the beginning.

She’s free at last

I'm freeeeee

Molly likes it outside…unless it’s cold and snowy. When we moved into our new home, she wasn’t allowed to go outside anymore, for there was no fence around the garden…

This might need some explanation. Molly isn’t always behaving very catlike, she does not climb for example. She can jump, there’s nothing wrong with her legs, she just doesn’t think it’s neccesary to climb. So she got stuck in our former neighbours’ gardens all the time and we would have to ask our neighbours if we could get our cat back and that’s the point where we decided that it would be a good idea to keep her into the garden, within the fence.

So…no more outside for little Mole when we moved into our new home. Only problem was: when we would sit outside on our terrace, she would go and sit at the backdoor, look at us and mieow…loud…sad…. It’s no fun sitting outside when a little Persian princess is looking at you from behind glass saying: “Hey, what’s this?! Why are you out there in the sun, and I’m stuck here behind this door? I’m bored, get me out of here! Set me freeee!”

Anyway…

We build a fence around our garden this weekend. And our little princess is free as a bird and as happy as a little girl can be. Silly girl…

On Etsy: Minicyn

Along with the upcome of shops like Accessorize, I decided I wanted my ears to be pierced too. Within months I was the proud owner of a huge pile of the most beautiful earrings…and turned out to be one of those people who are terribly allergic to anything non-silver. I attached my most beloved earrings to this little ‘earring-tree’ and they now mostly just hang there and be pretty.

But for those unfortunate ladies with the same allergy problems, help is near! If you’re in need of some beautiful earrings your body won’t repel, you really should take a peek in Cynthia’s wonderful Etsy shop. This lady designs the most wonderful and original jewelry and the silver she uses for her products is earth-friendly (read more about that in her shop policies here). I purchased the earrings at the right a while ago and I just keep looking in the mirror and smile. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, you won’t leave this shop without buying something beautiful to indulge yourself!

Best weekend wishes

The upcoming weekend is gonna be a busy one, so a quick note to wish you all a wonderful weekend too! Many thanks for all the sweet comments on my feature in Flow Magazine, they really warmed my heart. You are all so incredibly kind!

The little lady on the right is a new member in the Tinkerhorse family, she’s available in the shop now! The “We belong together” card comes from Marilyn Patrizio’s wonderful shop. Peanut butter and jelly love – they still make me smile every time I pass by :-)

Flow feature!

Oh my, I’m as proud as a girl can be! Flow is one of my favorite Dutch magazines, and this month I’m in it! It’s an article about Dutchies on Etsy, which is a very good thing, ‘cause Etsy still needs promotion here in The Netherlands! Yay!
