A tiny bit of Christmas
Officially I had to wait before Sinterklaas had left the building. This is almost an act of sacrilage here in The Netherlands. But much as I like the old bearded fellow (and his presents :-)) I think it’s a shame to put all the effort into bringing your home in Christmas atmospheres and take it all down again after three weeks. So, I put up my hysterical Christmas branch last week.
I’m also listening to the Christmas Top 50 at the moment and decided that Celine Dion singing Ave Maria is a shame and sacrilage too.
I’m quite content with this new early Christmas vibe. If you should be looking for some more early Christmas lovers, check out this Flickr stream. Putting up the unconventional Christmastree will be my next project this weekend.

Love your tree Marlous! It looks so gorgeous, and also love how you describe it as “hysterical” that made me laugh.
Our tree will be something along the same lines – last year we did a branch tree, and hand made paper decorations: it was fun!

Mmm, I don’t know…. I spotted the first christmas tree (with lights!) in our street and well, I just think it’s unfair towards poor old Sinterklaas.
He deserves to get all attention until it’s his birthday – after that, it’s BYEBYE Sinterklaas, and HELLO to Santaclaus :-)
(but until december 5th, we will be singing Sinterklaassongs on the top of our lungs and putting shoes all over the place…)

Nee hoor, heel begrijpelijk. Het is toch eigenlijk raar dat we voor zo’n geweldig warme, gezellige sfeer maar een paar weken nemen? Hier ga ik ook al een beetje beginnen hoor en Sinterklaas komt in de tussentijd ook gewoon langs. Wel een multiculti-samenleving (willen) hebben, maar och och de Sint en de kerstman kunnen niet tegelijkertijd in 1 huis… tis toch wat…
Lekker van genieten! Oh en Celine Dion met kerst? Ik zou er een wegtrekker van krijgen. Mijn kerst begint pas als ik Last Christmas van Wham heb gehoord en die heb ik gelukkig op cd!
